Very relaxed song. Maybe a tad bit repetitive when the vocals aren't playing - maybe throw in some sort of solo? Not sure if you've heard Zircon's "Just Hold On", but this is very reminiscent of that. Seeing as I absolutely love that song, this song is high up on my charts.

also the vocal harmonization is just gravy.

RyeGuyHead responds:

The synth lead during the interlude / instrumentals could definitely be a bit more pronounced. Thanks for the feedback!

Thanks for the review, glad you liked it :D

youre too good to be joking

The intro of this song is amazing, but the rest was iffy. It seemed to be written well, but the choice of super droney reverbed out pads was over the top. The lead synth was a bit loud and heavy on the hi-end. The guitar work was all sweet though.

If you ever turn that first riff into it's own thing, let me know cause I dig that shit.

The composition is awesome. It's a bit repetitive, but I really fuckin love the breakdowns. Fake guitars always bug me, but I'd say you managed to pull it off in this song. The drums were very well arranged.

The mixing could use some work. Everything sounded really distant; nothing was powerful and in my face enough, as you would expect from metal. Probably just a bit too much reverb?

Sielumetsien responds:

Thank you for your review a lot sir. :-D

Seems like a great song that's been twisted into chaos. Regarding 'part 1', I love all of the instruments you chose and their presence in the song, however it sounds like you didn't quite know where to place the notes. Around 1:10, everything seems to come together a bit better, but overall it is quite dissonant and nearly brings me to closing the window. It does seem to keep my from doing that, though. You are for sure onto something; just keep working on harmonizing and whatnot.

As for 'part 2', it fits the bill as far as what you have declared by the title. It's together much better than the first part and still has the great choice of instrumentation.

I feel like with some more practice, you will be making gold tracks. For now you should work on harmonizing and reducing the dissonance in your tracks (albeit dissonance CAN be a good thing... at times). Most of this is completely based on my outlook on music, so you may choose to ignore it. Just keep producing buddy!

MockOff responds:

Hmm, I can understand why you wouldn't like the dissonance but it was pretty much intentional for the first 1:07, although the part at 0:44 I was pretty iffy on. But those chords were supposed to be dissonant and bring a jazzy type feel with the instruments around it giving it a contrast feel. After the first 1:07 I feel like I got rid of the dissonant feel, but eh.

I do appreciate your review though, and I will take it all into account. Sometimes its better to do things in lesser amounts. Thank you a lot for your kind words.

The beginning dragged on for quite a while, but as stated below, it was groovin' once it kicked in. I really enjoyed the relaxed feel of this song, and the choice of synths is prime. I must be too used to dubstep at this point, because I was really hoping for a heavy drop somewhere. That's simply personal preference, however, and I believe you did a wonderful job writing and producing this song.

idfpower responds:

Heh, thanks :) Yeah, my way of "seeing" things when it comes to composition may be a bit different, since my main band is playing metal / thrash - so I try to adjust to the way things are usually 'done' in the Electronic world, but somehow I end up with a style mash-up :) Thanks again for the review :)

A backing track would be nice, but you've definitely got some pipes. There were moments when you hit the wrong note, but overall a good vocal track. It's probably just my own style, but I feel a rest in the vocals at some point during the song would fit well. Find someone to do the instrumental, I definitely want to hear a final result!

On a side note, I could totally see this ending up as a dubstep track.

hhoulding responds:

thanks for reviewing i should see about the dubstep, i will have to find somebody haha

I don't usually listen to ambient music, but I found this particular track hit me in a different way than most. Maybe it's because I feel like I'm playing God of War or Diablo II, but as far as ambient music goes, as well as the desert theme, this track seems to be the epitome in my eyes. Great job man!

My one miff with this is the sudden breaks at times. After the intense rumbling, it cuts off way too hard. The hawk sample seemed to do the same thing, which really killed the feel it was trying to give. Maybe add some reverb to simulate sustain?

Starring Keanu Reeves.

Could use some higher quality synths, but I can totally understand any issues finding the right ones. I really enjoyed the sporadic feel of this song, yet still a solid idea is conveyed. I got some great imagery listening to this. You definitely did a great job here!

alternativesolution responds:

Haha, glad you were able to get some imagery from it! Thanks for commenting! :)

Quite a bit of dissonance in the composition, but perhaps that was intentional as a representation of this character? The mixing could definitely use some work; the strings were a tad loud around the 2:30 region. I really liked the piano near the end, but the reverb may have been overdone.

All in all, good composition that could use some mixing work.

Blacklawn responds:

Thanks. I agree. Mixing is always an issue for me... And I'll definitely have to tone down that reverb.
